HOW AND WHY TO VISUALISE

Have you ever visualised?

This is a question I end up asking all sorts of people when we’re having conversations about their worries, state of mind or lingering issues. 99% of the time the answer is no, however when I then go on to explain what it is, they realise they do it all the time and have done their entire lives. We all visualise naturally, we let our minds drift off to temporarily live out various scenarios that we either wish to happen or dread the thought of happening…I guess depending on our state of mind at the time.

These mini mind-moons are commonly referred to as daydreams. Something you get told off for doing too much of at school or something you end up doing when you’re tediously bored somewhere… as innocent as they sound though, the main thing I’ve learnt over the past two years is to never underestimate a daydream, the good, the bad or the ugly, because they’re all very powerful moments. They have the capability to lift us up or bring us down, to make us feel strong or leave us mentally defeated. Unless of course we learn to take more control of them, which is what I now enjoy doing on a daily basis.

I’ll never forget the first time I turned daydreaming into focussed visualisation. I’d been learning about how to attract what you want in life by raising your vibrational frequency. Your thoughts and the energy that they bring you need to match the energy you’d feel in the life you want to live. Basically, to get to where you want to be in life, your mind needs to go there first. So, when you think of this life and how happy it makes you, your mind then tells your subconscious about this in a message transported via the positive emotions you felt while visualising it. Then as you’re blissfully unaware, your very clever subconscious simply pops this destination into its spiritual sat nav, changes your direction and you’re on your way to your dream destination…

This all sounded quite easy, and for me lots of fun. So I spent some time that day having a think about how I’d like my life to look…it was hard at first but then once you’re in the flow and you’ve lifted those restrictions, the ideas and dreams seem to multiply, and why not? You get one life so don’t forget to strive for everything you want!

I lived alone at the time so taking 15 minutes to lie down in silence was pretty much an everyday occurrence! But I know it’s not as easy as it sounds for everyone, especially with kids, but if you can manage it and make time to try this, I promise you it’s worth it.

I laid down and set the timer on my phone for 15 minutes, closed my eyes, took a deep breath and let my imagination drift into another world, a world made by me which was full of the things I loved. The beautiful house that I walk past and gaze at everyday became my home…in fact the first thing I did was walk up the steps to the house, past the olive trees and the lavender, taking in the scent and excitement, I put the key, my key, into the lock and opened the door…that’s how it started for me. The rest of my daydream followed, my surroundings appeared like a scene from “Inception”, my mind built and created everything and everyone I wanted there…then I explored, imagined and experienced anything I wanted, as vividly as possible, knowing that the more I enjoyed those feelings of happiness and excitement, the quicker those things with inevitably manifest into my life.

My timer went off too soon, I was back in the room with a subtle jolt. I felt differently to before, I felt better. I felt happier, calmer, excited, inspired, more focussed, lifted, physically lifted.

I couldn’t wait to do it again. I couldn’t wait to see what else I’d decide to include in my future life. My mind had envisioned some wonderful things, places, relationships, achievements, ambitions…I felt so happy with the thought of it all that from that day forward I’ve never been so sure of what I really want from life. It changed everything for me.

This first experience was now the beginning of a new daily practice, not to mention a new found interest into the world of how visualisation raises your vibration and how the law of attraction then works its magic. An interest I’m still only at the beginning of exploring…but one that I wanted to share with you using this blog post. I hope I’ve explained it well enough for now, at least enough for you to try it. If you’d like any more details/tips before you have your first 15 minutes then let me know as I’d love to hear from you, before, and definitely after :0)
